Facebook Currency Partners Abandon the Project Amid Massive Legal Settlement Over the past week companies have been backing away from Facebook’s Libra cryptocurrency endeavor. Senator and presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren put out faux Facebook ads intending to highlight Facebook's issues with propagating ‘fake news’. And Facebook has admitted that they have overstated their video metrics, and settled a class action lawsuit for $40 million.

On Wednesday evening the Washington Post reported that two former Twitter employees are being charged with spying for Saudi Arabia. This is the first time federal prosecutors charged the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of using agents in the US, after the employees allegedly accessed the company’s information on dissidents using the platform. This news comes not long after the Middle East Eye published a story claiming a senior Twitter executive with editorial responsibility for covering the Middle East was revealed to be a part time officer in the British Army psychological warfare unit.

Former Acting CIA Director John McLaughlin, on a panel with former CIA Director John Brennan, responded to a question about whether the "deep state" was trying to take out President Trump with a quote, "thank God for the deep state."
