China Condemns U.S. Bill Supporting Hong Kong Protests amid PolyU Siege As protesters in Hong Kong seek international support in their ongoing conflict with the government and police, the US made an important step in showing solidarity with their struggle. Yesterday, the Senate passed the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act and the Protect Act unanimously, with a few changes made to the original bill that passed the House. As a result, Beijing strongly condemned what they see as meddling in China’s affairs. All this comes in the wake of another university besieged by Hong Kong police, where a fierce standoff left hundreds arrested.
