I need some legal advice on this. I was recently diagnosed with COPD and emphysema I am also claustrophobic. I tried to wear face masks and I could not breathe. So just to alleviate confrontation I asked my primary doctor four letter regarding my medical condition that wearing a face mask impedes on my ability to breathe properly. He gave me a letter with no problem. I have degenerative disc disease in my lower back and today I went to see a spine specialist. When he came into the room the first thing he said to me was no mask? And I said I have a medical condition and I told him what it was and I also told him I had a letter for my primary doctor regarding me wearing a face mask. This doctor walked out of the room he refused to treat me. Even with the letter for my primary doctor that he didn't even ask to look at he just walked out. And I told him the governor said people with medical conditions are not required to wear a mask nor are they required to have a note from their doctor. And this is the state of Illinois. I am livid! Where do I address this.? Can a doctor refuse to treat a patient that has a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask can they refuse to treat that patient? That is my question that's where I need to start I believe I know the answer no they cannot. What do I do about this I'm taking it all the way.
