Pompeo's Bombastic Iran Threats: A Sign Of Weakness?

Secretary of State Michael Pompeo threatened Iran with annihilation in a speech yesterday at the neoconservative Heritage Foundation. His twelve demands of Iran read like the demands made of Serbia in 1914 -- they are designed not to reduce tensions but to lead to war. But is all the bombast in the Trump Administration on Iran just a sign of weakness? The claims in Pompeo's speech are demonstrably false. Why lie when the lies are so easy to refute?

Twitter Employees Charged with Spying for Saudi Arabia

On Wednesday evening the Washington Post reported that two former Twitter employees are being charged with spying for Saudi Arabia. This is the first time federal prosecutors charged the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of using agents in the US, after the employees allegedly accessed the company’s information on dissidents using the platform. This news comes not long after the Middle East Eye published a story claiming a senior Twitter executive with editorial responsibility for covering the Middle East was revealed to be a part time officer in the British Army psychological warfare unit.

'Thank God For The Deep State' - CIA Celebrates Coup Against President Trump

Former Acting CIA Director John McLaughlin, on a panel with former CIA Director John Brennan, responded to a question about whether the "deep state" was trying to take out President Trump with a quote, "thank God for the deep state." Everyone laughed. He went on to say that the "intelligence community" is right to take out presidents like Trump because they are selfless patriots only interested in the truth. Does the CIA and other intelligence agencies in the US have the right to overthrow a president if they don't like him? Is that the kind of government we want? Or should people start going to jail...
